Chameleon Studios has designed and created the new Fuchs Foundation website using our Mosaic content management system. This is the first of two websites and serves to highlight the exciting initiative of inspiring future generations by sending young teachers to the Polar Regions to do scientific projects in hostile environments.

 

The idea of the Foundation was conceived by the party of British Antarctic Survey scientists wintering on South Georgia 1973/4, and the objective was to mark the service of Sir Vivian Fuchs as the first Director of the Survey.

Sir Vivian Fuchs showed a generation of school children a sense of curiosity, self reliance, self determination and challenge. In his memory, the Fuchs Foundation will inspire future generations by sending young teachers to the Polar Regions to do scientific projects in hostile environments.
 
Science and Geography are perceived as dull subjects and hard work. The Fuchs Foundation challenges this perception and aims to recreate in young people the sense of excitement, adventure and thirst for knowledge.
