The Sussex Wine Company, based in Eastbourne, has been trading from their high street shop since 2003. Their passion of great wines from all corners of the world fueling the three basic principles they founded the business on: (1) Value for money (2) Focus on personalised service (3) Promotion of smaller, boutique wineries.
Challenges
The Sussex Wine Company wanted to move their business online in order to widen their customer reach. With no internet presence Chameleon Studios was tasked with designing and developing their online brand.
The main requirement was to ensure that The Sussex Wine Company could manage their website themselves and process all the orders. Their staff have the control to create, edit, order and promote an unlimited number of products and categories via the use of a secure administration suite. They can also setup special offers when they want to and offer gift certificates.
As any ecommerce store they key factor in the success is getting the traffic into the website. Since the launch in March 2005 Chameleon Studios has been consulting and monitoring the search engine optimisation of the website. The continual addition of new content and 'tweaking' of key-phrases helps to keep the search engine crawlers coming back and giving the website a good ranking.
Achievements
Currently, The Sussex Wine Company website is steadily building up its traffic. Starting from zero this has been a long on-going process but each new month seems to bring a record month. They now receive a steady flow of traffic from natural listings on the major search engines and online orders are increasing.
The Sussex Wine Company recognises the potential value in ecommerce and is continually re-investing in new site features in order to convert more traffic to sales. We look forward to seeing this site grow into a very successful online wine merchant!
